Louise's Travel Journal

About

img007My name is Louise. I am a writer, traveler, professional problem solver & perpetual vacation planner. I’m happiest when my bags are packed and I’m off on my next adventure.

As the only child of highly motivated yet fiercely pragmatic parents, my opportunities for adventure and personal fulfillment were plentiful while I was growing up. Mom and Dad made sure that I was provided with constant exposure to new cultural experiences through foreign exchange students, family vacations, piano lessons, volunteer opportunities, sleep away camps and a public school education. My search for fulfilling experiences currently finds me living in Eagan, MN with my brilliant and handsome husband, Derick. We have a variety of things that keep us busy. First and foremost are our pets, Watson (cat), Cake (bird), and Gatsby (turtle). They are all adorable  and most importantly, relatively independent companions. Derick and I also enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, gardening, Batman comic books, Dr. Who, Minnesota Public Radio, zombie movies, Murder, She Wrote  and black coffee. We love having friends over for food and board games and I proudly do not use dumb fake words when playing Scrabble.

In 2010, I self-published my first book. This book was written for a breast cancer foundation fundraiser. Special thanks to all of the folks who bought my book and supported an important cause. Piping Hot from the Idiom Factory is a collection of short stories and recipes. In it, I strive to mix the best parts of my Minnesotan culture: eating and storytelling.

Here are some Top 5 Lists that will help you know me better… because when it comes to picking favorites it’s so silly to pick just one.

I love reading your writing, you are very talented! If I didn’t know you, I would want to have coffee or a martini with you. But since I know you, you wanna have both?
